I rely on SNAP for my food purchases. This does not include going to a restaurant. For those purchases, I use my discretionary spending. Since I receive a good amount of SNAP benefits, I can pay for almost all of my food with SNAP. With that in mind, I don’t count my food nor my SNAP benefits as income, and expenses. If I had to spend cash, I would have included both line items.
In regards to grocery shopping. I have. two choices. One, I could pay a friend of mine to take me to the grocery store, and I will bring home 3-4 bags of groceries. In turn, I compensate her for the effort. The other option is to take a bus to the nearest grocery store, and buy groceries for the week or 2. Each option has advantages and disadvantages. I just work with what I can, and how I can.
